There is currently a growing belief that a deal can be reached between Manchester United and Lecce over the transfer of defender Patrick Dorgu.
It is believed that the fee being discussed is around £30 million, and discussions over the arrangement are still ongoing. It’s not finished yet, and if United is not happy with the entire package, they will go.
Personal terms shouldn’t be a problem because Dorgu wants to transfer to Old Trafford. It is possible to find a compromise that works for everyone.
Over the weekend, Lecce president Saverio Sticchi Damiani reaffirmed the team’s intention to retain Dorgu, but he did not entirely rule out a transfer.
Regarding Dorgu, Damiani was quoted by Sky in Italy as saying: “We have previously stated that the club is putting up its own resistance, which I think is reasonable, on the subject of the outgoing market. We want to keep the important players, and this is related to acting sensibly and rationally. Our current plan is to prevent anyone from leaving.
Lecce had been anticipating that a compelling offer from United will test their commitment to retain Dorgu. Lecce, intermediaries, and United’s director of negotiations, Matt Hargreaves, held multiple rounds of negotiations in Milan last week.
Additionally, Napoli has been attempting to sign him and has stated that they are prepared to loan him to Lecce. The Premier League team discussed an initial offer of £25.4m + £4.2m (€30m + €5m) for the defender during a meeting on Tuesday in Milan, although Lecce is looking for a deal closer to £38m (€45m).
Middlemen were seen leaving a Milan hotel on Wednesday as United continued talks with them. After that, Hargreaves went back to the UK.
