Arsenal defeated Wolves 2-0 to reclaim the top spot in the Premier League

Arsenal defeated Wolves 2-0 to reclaim the top spot in the Premier League at Molineux with goals from Leandro Trossard and Martin Odegaard late in each half.

Trossard’s angled shot in the closing moments of the first half soared into the top corner of the goal, while Mikel Arteta’s team held off Wolves until Odegaard clinched the win during stoppage time. With this victory, they now lead Manchester City by one point, despite having played an additional match.

Following the surprising loss at home to Aston Villa and their subsequent elimination from European competition by Bayern Munich on Wednesday, the Gunners were facing immense pressure to secure a victory that would propel them to the top and inject some much-needed momentum into their season.

Injury-ravaged Wolves started 15-year-old Wes Okoduwa as a substitute and gave striker Tawanda Chirewa his first start; however, they were competitive enough the entire time, with Joao Gomes’ shot hitting the post to tie the score.

Even though the outcome was still up in the air, Arsenal’s strong defense—which has played a significant role in this title fight—maintained its composure until Odegaard added a late polish to the joy of the away fans. Wolves remain in 11th place. Right now, while Arsenal is in the lead.
