Ten Hag in Ratcliffe’s plans should deal go through
According to Newsmen, Erik Ten Hag will be assured that he is part of Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s ambitions for Manchester United if the British tycoon agrees to handle the club’s sporting side.
Ratcliffe, the creator of INEOS, hopes to get a 25% ownership in exchange for an investment of roughly £1.3 billion ($1.58 billion).
He wants to have a say in football operations, but any proposed changes, according to a source, would not include replacing Ten Hag.
In his debut season in charge, the Dutchman guided United to third place in the Premier League and the Carabao Cup.
Despite United’s terrible start to the season, in which they have lost six of their first eleven games in all competitions, INEOS choose to keep Ten Hag as manager.
United will convene a board meeting on Thursday to finalize an agreement with Ratcliffe and INEOS.
According to a sources, Ratcliffe is aware that his offer to buy a minority part in the club may be unpopular with fans because it would keep the Glazer family as owners.
He hopes that by acquiring 25% of the club, he can pave the way for a full takeover in the future, although the Glazers will retain their majority for the time being.
Supporters were keen to see the Glazers’ 18-year ownership end when it was reported in November that the American family could sell, but it was confirmed on Saturday that Sheikh Jassim’s one offer for 100% control of the club had been withdrawn.
Last Monday, the Qatari investor withdrew from the process, citing the Glazers’ “fanciful” value as the primary cause.
Sheikh Jassim’s final bid was roughly £5 billion, around £1 billion less than the Glazers’ asking price. If Ratcliffe is successful, he is anticipated to outline grandiose plans for Manchester United’s future in order to quell any fan dissatisfaction. Proposals are anticipated to include a plan to renovate Old Trafford, perhaps increasing capacity from 76,000 to 90,000.
