West Ham considers new bid for Maguire
West Ham are mulling a second approach for Harry Maguire in January if his lack of game time at Manchester United continues, according to Newsmen.
The east London club held talks with United over the summer, but Maguire ultimately remained at Old Trafford to fight for his career under Erik ten Hag.
The 30-year-old indicated earlier this week at St George’s Park that he would not turn down a move to London Stadium.
Maguire underlined his desire to make a success of his time at United, but after appearing in only two of the club’s 11 games this season, he has yet to do so.
According to Newsmen, West Ham are encouraged that a deal might be rekindled in January, especially given that United are not likely to stand in his way of leaving.
Maguire is still a fan of David Moyes, and a move might be spurred by the potential of West Ham centre-back Kurt Zouma joining the Saudi Pro League in January.
West Ham are looking to tie down Zouma to a new contract, as his current deal expires in the summer of 2025.
Moyes appointed the 28-year-old club captain in the aftermath of Declan Rice’s summer transfer to Arsenal, and negotiations for a new contract are ongoing.
The Saudi Pro League clubs, four of which are now owned by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), spent extensively in the summer to lure many top European stars to the Middle East and plan to do so again in January.
