Junior Pope: We finally lost him – (AGN)
The death of Nollywood actor John Paul Odonwodo, also referred to as Junior Pope has been confirmed by Emeka Rollas, the National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN).
According to Mr. Rollas, when little twitches of Junior Pope’s fingers were observed on Wednesday, it was first thought that he had survived the accident.
On Wednesday, the late actor and three of his colleagues fell into the Anam River in Anambra State while returning on a boat from a filming site.
Mr. Rollas, who had earlier on Wednesday claimed that Junior Pope had survived the accident, revealed the tragic development on his Instagram page on Thursday, writing, “It is so so sad that our joy was shortlived.”
“When we noticed his tingling fingers, I was so excited that I posted my first post,” he continued. Despite their greatest efforts, he was unable to be revived by two renowned hospitals. The best is known to God. We finally lost him; three other corpses have not yet been located, but the body of Mr. Friday has been identified.

Junior Pope reportedly entered the Nollywood industry in 2006, attending film auditions and taking on small roles in films, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
In films, he typically portrayed bodyguards, palace attendants, and servants.
He became well-known in 2007 after starring in Tchidi Chikere’s Nollywood blockbuster film “Secret Adventures.”
Among the more than 150 Nollywood films in which he has appeared are “Secret Adventures,” “Mad S3x,” “Bitter Generation,” “Vengeance of Bullet,” “The Cat,” “The Generals,” and “Wrong Initiation.”
In 2010, he won the award for Nollywood Most Promising Actor in Nigeria at the Entertainment Factory Awards.
Famous for portraying characters like a hitman, criminal, villain, armed robber, and militant, and others such as Alaso Wariboko, Gentle Jack, Hanks Anuku, and Jerry Amilo in films, he also works with Emma Ehumadu.
Among the other honors he received were Best Actor of the Year from the Africa Movie Academy (AMA) Awards and Best Actor in a Supporting Role from the Africa Magic Viewers Choice (AMVC) Awards. (NAN)
Rollas released the following statement regarding the film shoot’s suspension: “All films involving riverine areas and boat riding are hereby suspended indefinitely following the tragic incident of a boat mishap that claimed the lives of Junior Pope and three other crew members at the waterside of River Niger Cable point Asaba on April 10th.
On Thursday, April 11, 2024, “No Shoot” will be observed nationwide, and the movie “The Other Side of Life” will be put on indefinite hold.
Additionally, until later notice, no actor is permitted to collaborate as a producer with Adamma Luke, as we continue our search for the remaining individuals’ bodies.
He prayed for their souls to rest in peace.
