Tottenham rejects Bayern’s €100m+ offer
According to ESPN, Bayern Munich is debating whether to abandon its pursuit of Harry Kane after Tottenham rejected their latest offer for the England captain.
According to sources familiar with the negotiations, Bayern’s latest proposal approached €100 million ($110 million) when performance-related add-ons were factored in.
Bayern has also set a Friday night deadline for a response and has threatened to move on to other targets if Spurs do not accept their requirements.
According to ESPN, Tottenham did not respond before the time provided by Bayern, but have now notified them that they are unwilling to accept the deal.
Bayern Munich are thought to have had an internal strategy meeting on Monday, during which senior club executives will decide whether to pursue a deal for Kane.
Kane, 30, who scored four goals in Tottenham’s preseason friendly win over Shakhtar Donetsk on Sunday, has not yet pushed to leave the club but is open to join Bayern if the two teams can agree on a deal.
Kane’s £200,000-per-week deal is up in a year. Despite sources told ESPN that the club’s all-time leading scorer has no intention of signing a new contract this summer, there is still some hope within Spurs that he could stay if the club has a successful first season under new coach Ange Postecoglou.
