Rema’s speech at the 2023 headies award
Divine Ikubor, better known as Rema, a popular Nigerian singer, has claimed that at award ceremonies, all Afrobeats artists will be grouped together, regardless of what genre Nigerian musicians identify their musical genres.
The “Bounce” singer announced this on Sunday in Atlanta, Georgia, when accepting the 2023 Headies Award for Best Male Artist of the Year.
Burna Boy recently distanced himself from the afrobeats label, claiming that it “lacks substance” in an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe.
