Tottenham and RB Leipzig have reached an agreement for the loan signing of forward Timo Werner until the conclusion of the season.
Ex-Chelsea striker Timo Werner, previously rumored to be transferred to Manchester United during the January transfer window, is now poised to sign with Tottenham this month. Werner, who has netted two goals in eight Bundesliga appearances this season, is currently contracted with RB Leipzig until the summer of 2026.
Spurs have undertaken the responsibility of covering the entire salary of the 27-year-old until the conclusion of the ongoing campaign. Additionally, there is an option to secure the forward’s permanent transfer at the season’s conclusion.
The cost of signing Werner long-term at the end of the season is reportedly £15.5 million, according to Sky in Germany.
Earlier this week, reports indicated that the ex-Chelsea player was presented as an option to Manchester United during the January transfer window. However, the latest developments suggest that he is now on track to make a return to London this month.
Ange Postecoglou’s team is facing the absence of club captain Heung-Min Son for a minimum of one month due to his involvement in the Asia Cup. Furthermore, there are concerns about Alejo Veliz, with fears that he may have sustained a long-term knee injury.
